Bay Village Resort News
Finally,
the soil has turned and some building activity is occurring.
We genuinely expect minimal disruption to guests
throughout the ensuing months and some lovely new units
ready in time for Easter, or shortly thereafter! The main inconvenience
is currently the lack of a children's playground,
however fortunately there is a
play area just 200 meters down Dunn Bay Rd on the beach
front
The pool area is also being expanded at the moment to
take in an outdoor deck area for those who still worship
the sun. Alternatively, there will of course be shady
umbrellas.
Wardan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Grand opening of new
Interpretive Displays
- The Wardandi people
are proud to announce the Grand Opening of their new
cultural interpretive centre. The interpretive centre
offers a fascinating and educational insight into the
spiritual and material aspects of the people who have
inhabited this region for over 55,000 years.
The Wardan elders and
their families extend a warm welcome to all to join in
the opening ceremonies on December 11, 2004 (2pm until
4.30pm). Experience the fascination of the Wardan
culture and the beauty of the new surroundings and
displays, along with our traditional music and dance,
accompanied by some of the region’s finest foods and

Bushtucker River and Winery
Tours Learn more about
the local environment and wineries with a tour
including 6 wineries, the forest, chocolate & cheese
factories, and a gourmet lunch at a winery. Bookings

Busselton Beach
Festival
-
The festival was
born in 1992 from a community initiative to showcase
local talent in a unique and creative environment. The
2005 Beach Festival event will take place over two
weekends with the first focusing on Youth - "The Big
Mix" incorporating the Battle of the Young Bands to be
held on Saturday 8th January 2005. The second weekend
will be Family focused - "Tribal Mix" and will be held
on Saturday 15th January. The Festival will provide
festivities and activities for both local people and
visiting holidaymakers, on the sun drenched beachfront
of Busselton.

Whale Tales with Naturaliste
Charters (as at Dec 4,04)
BLUE WHALES:
We came across another FIFTEEN BLUE WHALES during the
week! And the sightings were spread out over five days.
The minimum we saw was
TWO and the
maximum SIX.
Just how fortunate have we been in the past two weeks,
sighting TWENTY TWO
of these rare creatures – it can’t get much better than
that.
HUMPBACKS:
The more plentiful
HUMPBACK has also been seen in good numbers.
This week we encountered
FIFTY SIX of
the very active Humpbacks, and active they were! Almost
every day we saw Breaches, Spy Hops, Pectoral and Tail
Slaps, Tail Stands and many other tricks Humpbacks and
known for. The calves were out in force too with
THIRTEEN
sighted. Monday and Wednesday must have been designated
‘mugging’ days as we were entertained by
FIVE HUMPBACKS
MUGGING us for TWO HOURS on Monday and a
MOTHER &
CALF MUGGING us for 30 minutes on Wednesday.

or theme park

has been on leave for a month, so there are slim
pickings with news, however we expect an update within
the next week and will add to this space just as soon as
possible. Meanwhile if you're in Dunsborough, don't

tips.

SCUBA DIVING
with Bay Dive (Swan Ship Wreck Charters)
Well, its finally that
time of year again, Christmas is nearly here and the
weather is warming up. We have been havng some great
days diving out on the
Swan Wreck
and are visiting the
Busselton Jetty
very regularly. Over the coming weeks we will be
starting up regular night dives to both the
Busselton Jetty and also out
to the Swan. The
Busselton Jetty
is as beautiful as ever at night, with loads of
Cuttlefish,
Octopus and
Squid out to play, the
colourful
Nudibranchs
are out on the prowl and there are some great sights to
be seen. Beneath the Jetty your torch will light up the
soft corals so brightly, it's even bette than in the
day!
Night dives
are the ideal time to get those fantastic colours on
film, so if you're a keen underwater photographer (or
just a novice) let us take you down to discover the
Busselton nightlife.
Visiting the
Swan Wreck at night is an
amazing experience, seeing this fantastic wreck loom out
of the darkeness in your torchlight is a sight you will
remember forever. The darkness gives the Swan a great
'spooky' feel to here and will shed a completely
different light on her, even for those that have dived
her before during the daytime. All the little critters
that normally hide during the day are scuttling about
under cover of darkness.
Starting
December 18th we will be
running regular
Night Dives
to the
Swan Wreck,
just give us a call for more details. They will become a
regular every
Saturday night
after the Christmas and New Years celebrations.
We would also like to
congratulate all the new divers we have certified during
the last month, they enjoyed some great boat dives at
Busselton Jetty and we look forward to taking them out
for their Adventure dives on the
Swan
Wreck very soon. Remember our
Open Water Diver
courses are now running every
Monday and
Thursday and our

Advanced Open Water courses
are every weekend. Of course other dates are available

Ngilgi Cave & the Cape
Naturaliste Lighthouse join forces.
A joint pass is now
available to the public for Ngilgi Cave and the Cape
Naturaliste Lighthouse. The pass offers a 10% discount
to visitors wishing to visit both attractions. The pass
is available at the Dunsborough Visitor Centre just
across the road from Bay Village Resort.
