WINO'S -
DINNER
WITH TELMO RODRIGUEZ
-Thursday 21st April
Telmo Rodriguez is a leading figure of the modern
Spanish wine scene - equivalent to the Barossa growers
who resisted the vine-pull scheme in the 80s, and which
lead directly to the international renaissance of
old-vine Barossa shiraz. Similarly, Telmo stood in the
breach during a time in Spain when modernising basically
meant ripping out old-vine indigenous varieties (Tempranillo,
Garnacha, Monastrell ...), and planting
international varieties. Thankfully, Telmo stood up and
proclaimed long and loud the shortcomings of this
response; and demonstrated his point by snapping up some
really great old, dry-grown bushvine plots of
Tempranillo and other varieties. Since the mid-90s,
these have resulted in a succession
of outstanding modern wines realised from the best
possible plantings of indigenous grape varieties. We're
delighted to announce Telmo's forthcoming inaugural
visit to Australia, accompanied by his importer, Scott
Wasley of The Spanish Acquisition.
He is visiting Margaret River soon, and this is your
invitation to meet and chat with Telmo while tasting
Telmo's current vintages casually in the bar, and to
then enjoy the top end and some back vintages over
dinner at WINOS.
Tasting
and nibbles in the bar, 5.30-7 (free of charge).
Dinner, $75 per head from 7pm.

dinner places strictly limited)

SENSORY SENSATION @ CLAIRAULT-
Autumn has brought an exciting new development at
Clairault Restaurant with the launch of a new menu
concept designed to create a sensory sensation and
offer guests a broader selection of dining options.
We can personally vouch for the variety and quality
having dined their last weekend - just superb!
The produce driven menu has moved away from the
traditional entrée – main - dessert format, offering
a variety of culinary pleasures that are
uncomplicated yet flavoursome, merging international
influences with some of WA’s finest ingredients.
From Western Australian scallops, with avocado,
sucuk and white gazpacho, to the thai influences
experienced in the tom yum with crab wontons and
oyster mushroom.
Also on offer is a selection of ‘mezze’ style dishes
($5 – $9.50) to savour as appetiser, or relish for
the whole afternoon in the stunning surroundings of
the vineyard. Although it’s not intended for these
dishes to always be ‘Mediterranean’ in flavour, the
mezze tradition is a pleasurable way to dine with
friends.
Clairault’s continual achievement of excellence has
been highlighted with the restaurant receiving an
acclaimed Black Star rating by Australia’s Gourmet
Traveller Best Restaurant Guide and voted in the top
5 most popular restaurants by SCOOP Readers (Autumn
Edition 2005).Clairault restaurant is open for lunch
from 12 noon to 3.30pm daily. Bookings
