The
Swan Ship Wreck-
'One of the World's best Wreck Dives'
Located a little over 200km south of
Perth at Dunsborough, the swan shipwreck is an
incredible dive. Sunk purposely in 1997 for divers the
wreck lies upright in 32 meters of water, she is 113
meters long
and over 30 meters wide. The average visibility we receive
in this area is 18 - 25 meters. In the short time the
Swan has been down, she has already become home to many
different species of fish, this a dive not to be missed
while you are visiting Western Australia. Dive run daily
(subject to weather conditions) all months bar June,
July & August.

SWAN DIVE WRECK INFORMATION
Best Diving months are February,
March, April and early May
when the visibility can get as high as 30 meters.
Our season is from 1st September to the
31st May yearly.
It took hundreds of volunteers nearly
12 months and more than 10,000 hours of hard labor
to prepare the former Destroyer Escort HMAS Swan for
scuttling as a dive wreck and artificial reef near
Dunsborough in Western Australia.
With everything going to plan she
was sunk in an upright position some 1.3 nautical
miles off Point Piquet (Meelup Beach) near Dunsborough
- only a 15 minute boat ride in protected waters.
The tower sits in 6 meters of water, while the bottom
at 31 meters. The Swan Dive Wreck has a minor list
to her left side making it a classic and interesting
ship wreck. Only 24 hours after the sinking, fish
life were present. The wreck now has an abundance
of marine life and is rapidly establishing itself
as a bountiful artificial reef.
The project was by far the biggest
of its type ever undertaken in Australia. Had it not
been for the support of Government's at all levels
from Commonwealth, to State and the Shire of Busselton,
local business sponsors (of which Bay Village Resort
- Dunsborough is proud to be one of), the diving
community of Australia would not have such a fine dive
site. Since she was scuttled thousands of people from
all over Australia and the world have dived her.
Already she is establishing herself as an extremely
successful artificial reef and dive site of world
renown. Anyone that has dived the Swan can honestly
say it's mind blowing and diving at it's very best,
rated in the top ten wreck sites in the world.
